What are Dictionary Terms for?

All users => This article provides an overview of the T-Pro Dictionary and its concept.

Overview

The Dictionary is a feature within T-Pro Speech Recognition that allows specific words and terms to be boosted, making them more likely to be recognised and transcribed correctly. Use the Dictionary for words that may not be part of the standard vocabulary or that are frequently misrecognised.

When a term is added to the Dictionary, the speech recognition engine prioritises that word during recognition. Dictionary entries do not replace or remove any existing words from the system.

Benefits:

  • Improved recognition of specialist clinical terms
  • Better accuracy for local hospital, ward, and department names
  • Improved recognition of medication names
  • Greater consistency across dictated documents
  • No risk of replacing or hiding other valid words

Example:
If a clinician frequently dictates a local ward name such as Brindley and the term is occasionally transcribed incorrectly, adding Brindley to the Dictionary increases the likelihood that it will be recognised correctly in future dictations.
