T-Pro Speech Direct allows the user to dictate directly into different applications such as MS Word, MS Outlook, Notepad, text fields within EPR systems, etc.

Starting Speech Direct

Open the application with a double-click on the Speech Direct desktop icon and log into the application using your T-Pro credentials.

The small main window opens.

The main function here is to start and stop the recording.

Click on the microphone icon to do so.

  • When the microphone icon is red, the microphone is on.

  • When the microphone icon is grey, the microphone is off.

The icon also indicated the on/off status when working with an external microphone.

When dictating your input is visible in the main window just before it is inserted into the application you are working with.

Achieve best performance

If you stick to common simple rules when dictating you will get the best results.

  • Before dictating, make sure the cursor is placed and blinking where you want to place text.

  • Think about what you want to say before you start to speak.

  • After you turn on the microphone, pause slightly before beginning dictation.

  • T-Pro speech recognition is designed to recognise conversational speech. Speak at your natural volume and pace and use natural phrases.

  • Turn off your microphone when you finish dictating.

  • Pause briefly before and after saying a command.

  • Do not pause in the middle of saying a command.

You must speak punctuation when dictating with T-Pro Speech. Below is a list of

Click on the three bars above the microphone icon to open the settings menu.

Click to open the microphone menu.

The small window displays the microphone currently in use. The blue bar indicates that it is receiving input.

If you are working with different microphones, e.g. an internal and an external one they will be listed.

Click into the field to expand the list.

This is where you change to the microphone you want to use.

NOTE: When connecting or unplugging an external microphone you normally do not need to manually select your microphone because it is automatically recognised. If this is not the case or you want to look up which mic is currently the default you would check this list.

Here, you can build auto-texts to use a voice command to standardised boiler-plate text.

You can specify automatic formatting rules that Speech Direct applies to text, such as dates.

NOTE: Changing these options affects only the current user profile.

The application offers various formatting options, see some samples below:
