How Blueprint Instructions and Clinical Safety Affect Your Style Settings

Author => This article explains why some content can't be changed by style settings, and what to check if a document doesn't look the way you expected.

Style settings personalise how your document reads, but two rules always apply underneath:

  • blueprint instructions come first, and

  • clinical accuracy is never affected.



Blueprint instructions always take precedence

Style settings don't override what a blueprint explicitly requires.
For example:

  • Brief can't remove information that a blueprint placeholder explicitly asks for.
  • Omit (under Empty sections) doesn't apply where the blueprint explicitly instructs Scribe to keep a section.
  • Format or wording preferences can also be limited by specific blueprint instructions.

Style settings personalise presentation within what your chosen blueprint requires - they never change that blueprint requirement.

Clinical safety boundaries

Style settings can affect the level of detail, compression, structure, wording, abbreviation use, direct quotations, and how you and the patient are referred to.
They can never cause Scribe to:

  • invent clinical information,
  • add unsupported diagnoses,
  • strengthen clinical statements beyond the source information,
  • infer clinical facts that weren't captured,
  • invent clinical reasoning, or
  • change the clinical meaning of the source content.

=> Clinical accuracy always takes precedence over style preference.

If a document doesn't look the way you expected

If a generated document doesn't match your expected style, check the following:

  1. What are your current default style settings? (Settings → Blueprints & styles → Default style settings)

  2. Is this a newly generated document, or one generated earlier?
  3. Have document-level style settings previously been applied to this document? (Check Detail and style settings under the document's three-dot menu.)

  4. Was the document regenerated after you changed a setting?
  5. Does the blueprint you selected explicitly request content or formatting that takes precedence over the style setting in question?

NOTE: Changing your default style settings doesn't automatically update documents you've already generated - an existing document needs to be regenerated for the updated style to apply to it.
