How Can I Format My Notes in Scribe Web?

Author => This article introduces you to the styling shortcuts now available while writing your consultation notes.

Notes in Scribe Web can now be structured and styled, instead of appearing as plain text. This applies to both AI-generated notes and any text you type or edit yourself, and the formatting is kept when your document is generated, so it also appears correctly in the final document.

Available formatting

  • Headings - three sizes are available, to organise your note into sections and sub-sections.
  • Bold and italic - to emphasise a word or phrase.
  • Bulleted lists and numbered lists - to break information into clear points or steps.
  • Nested lists - list items can be indented under another to create a sub-list.

Adding formatting yourself

You can apply these styles directly as you type, using a few simple characters:

  • Start a line with #, ##, or ### (followed by a space) for a heading - the number of # characters sets the heading size.
  • Wrap a word or phrase in ** for bold, or * for italic.
  • Start a line with - for a bulleted list, or 1. for a numbered list.

=> the formatting is applied as soon as you finish typing the shortcut, for example by pressing space or Enter.

Underline, text alignment, and multi-level numbering (e.g. 1.1.1) are not supported.
